You know Spinal care has to be one of the most important things you can do for yourself, but unfortunately it seems to be the last priority in our busy lives.
Pain doesn’t wait until you are ready or have time to rest; it usually comes at the most inconvenient time, your busiest time. So by looking after your spine and getting a regular check up you can prevent a lot of unwanted problems and help maintain a healthier nervous system. The whole body is controlled by your nerves, healthy nerves equals’ healthy organs, muscles and joints etc. At Spine Alive, we will be thorough in checking your spine and nervous system and then give you some obtainable solutions to achieve a healthier you.
Alison Bennett - ChiropractorMy name is Alison Bennett and I am the owner and Chiropractor of Spine Alive. I grew up in Orange in a normal family with my Mum and my brother and never knew what Chiropractic was about. We went to the Doctor when we were sick, which thankfully wasn’t all that much and took painkillers if something hurt. I didn’t know about prevention and wellness and natural therapies back then.
ALL I KNEW IS THAT I WANTED TO HELP PEOPLE FEEL GOOD WHEN I GREW UP
It was only when studying science at University that I had some friends invite me along to a lecture on chiropractic, being interested in medicine and the human body, but also being a nerd and liking physics and maths,
IT ALL JUST MADE SENSE
If I can help the human frame work and move better I can not only decrease pain but also prevent pain and injuries, and the best bit is that it can help the body (i.e. nerves organs and muscles) work better.
HOW COOL IS THAT
So since that day I have never looked back. After my science degree I completed my Masters of Chiropractic at Macquarie University in Sydney. I started working for another Chiropractor in the heart of the city of Sydney at the bottom of Martin place, then whilst working there I opened my own small clinic in Petersham - “All Natural Chiropractic”. I worked there for three years then my brother and his wife had a child and I thought I wanted to be part of her life and be close to family, so I looked into moving to Orange.
SO IT WAS MEANT TO BE
I have been back in Orange since November 06 and I have loved every moment of it. Every person that walks through the door at Spine Alive makes my job enjoyable and worthwhile, as I get the opportunity to help people feel good, realize their health goals and reach their potential.
Andrew Blyth - B Med Sc Masters of ChiropracticMy name is Andrew Blyth. I joined Spine Alive in early 2009, but have been a chiropractor for more then 10 years. Originally I was from the mid north coast of NSW (Kempsey) but moved to Sydney to study. A family friend had got me interested in Chiropractic from an early age (being tall and playing sports had given me a few reasons to see him) and after seeing how it worked and with a keen interest in helping people I decided that Chiropractic was the profession for me.
I graduated from Sydney University with a Bachelor of Medical Science degree before completing the Masters of Chiropractic at Macquarie University. I worked in a large chiropractic clinic in Parramatta with 4 chiropractors on staff, before starting my own practice in Concord. 5 years later, my wife and I decided that Sydney was no longer the place we wanted to live.
Orange has always appealed to us – it is a beautiful town – and luckily, Spine Alive was in need of another chiropractor to join the team. After meeting “the Girls at Spine Alive” and seeing the great job they do, the fantastic facilities they provide and realising that they shared the same patient centred chiropractic approach that I have always used - I was sold.
Chiropractic has and continues to help me, and I have enjoyed being able to help others. Back and spinal problems can have major and long lasting effects. That is why my favourite part of being a chiropractor is the ability we have to help people of all ages not only get rid of their pain but to also get back into life – be more active, participate in sports, walk, exercise and get to play with the kids (or grandkids!!). After all, life is meant to be enjoyed.
Nicole Townsendis the clinical assistant at Spine Alive. She has lived in Orange all her life and completed her schooling at The Canobolas Rural Technology High School. Nicole works out the back with Alison assisting with your rehabilitation by helping you to stretch out after your adjustment.
was born in Orange and has lived here most of her life after a short move to Sydney. She completed her schooling at The Canobolas Rural Technology High School and completed the HSC in 2002. Brooke has been with Spine Alive since January 2008 after completing a Bachelor of Human Movement/ Social Science (Psychology) at Charles Sturt University in Bathurst. You will find Brooke at the front desk to help you with appointment times and any other queries you may have, as well as out the back in the traction and stretching area to help Nicole out when she is doubled up with patients. Brooke is a god send as she takes the load off the other girls.
was born and bread in Orange, She is married to Daniel and has two children. Donna began working at “Chiropractic Works Naturally” in 2003. During this time it underwent a name change to “Spine Alive”. In 2005 Donna left Spine Alive to go and help her husband out with their own business which is called “Orange Computer Repairs”.
In October 2007 Daniel was having his adjustment and it came up in conversation with Alison that Donna had worked at Spine Alive a few years previously. Alison at that time was looking for new staff members as the others girls were leaving; she asked Daniel if Donna wanted to come back, Donna was back at Spine Alive in October 2007, doing what she had done before at the front desk – including reading Alison’s mind of what needs to be done.
“I first came to Spine Alive after suffering neck pain that had progressed, causing muscles to pinch and thus leaving me in extreme pain with little to no movement down my right side. After my first consultation I was told of a number of spine alignment issues I had and quickly found the benefits of better neck movement after a few successive visits. Now with just a monthly adjustment I am doing better. I am happy to say I haven’t had a single “episode” of neck pinching in over 12 months.”
I have been receiving Chiropractic care for 30 years. As a child I was injured in a motor vehicle accident resulting in a whiplash injury to my neck. As a result of this injury I suffered terribly with headaches all my young life, no medical doctor able to diagnose what was causing the pain. When I was traveling Australia as a teenager I was enlightened to Chiropractic care to relieve the pain I suffered, and introduction by a friend. From that day on I have had back and neck manipulated and look forward to the care given as maintenance each month at Spine Alive.
Once your body is in a manageable state it’s a simple care of visiting the girls each month for me…and it’s a relief to feel as good as I do when I leave.
Sometimes I feel a bit heavy in the head and shoulders when I arrive at Spine Alive from all the pressures of being a working wife and mother…but let me tell you I feel like I am walking on air when I leave.”
“I had not had chiropractic work done on my back since 2003 and in early April 2007 I developed a very stiff and sore lower back. The possible cause of this was most probably driving long distances in a new vehicle.
I was unable to play golf, walk without pain or sleep comfortably.
I made an appointment with Spine Alive and after two treatments had gained much relief. After my third treatment today my lower back has loosened and is no longer painful. I have booked for another treatment in one week.
Tomorrow I intend to play golf and am confident of playing without pain and soreness. (24-4-07).
Played 18 holes of golf today without any problems, even played well. (25-4-07).”
“I have been going to the chiropractor since I was a child, so when I recently gave birth to premmie twins I took them to see Alison. At 3 months old, it was amazing to see the subtle differences, such as easier to burp and settle the babies to sleep and reducing the hiccups! I would highly recommend any parents take their babies to the chiropractor, as I feel that through my own childhood and seeing the differences in my children, it shows that you are setting up your own children’s health and development.”
“I originally came to Spine Alive because I had a sore back after many falls and injuries from riding horses. I had previously been to a different chiropractor, but wasn’t happy with his service. So I tried Spine Alive. That was over a year ago; I still come to Spine Alive and only need to be adjusted about every 6 months.
Each time I am adjusted I notice not only am I more flexible but my mood is high, I move better and sleep much better. My family always asks, “What are you on?” I say that I have had my spine adjusted at Spine Alive and I feel high on life.”
“I have been coming to Spine Alive since December 2006. Since then I have felt more energetic. I have much more energy to play with my two small children; my back hasn’t worried me as much prior to December 2006. I have suffered at least 17 years of a bad back and I just wished I started coming here many years prior. Also I can now turn my head especially when driving with no pain or stiffness.”
“Two doctors told me to take Panadol for the excessive pain I was feeling in my head. Panadol? It felt like my brain was going to pop out of my skull! Then my mum suggested I see the team at Spine Alive. It was the best advice. I was assessed, received an adjustment and haven’t looked back since. I had been experiencing pain in my head, shoulder and back, which was affecting my ability to concentrate at work, to carry groceries and to remain positive. But after some intensive management by Spine Alive, then regular monthly adjustments, coupled with daily stretching, I have a new lease on everyday life. And that’s what it’s all about isn’t it?
Thank you Spine Alive; your care, professionalism and outstanding facilities keep me coming back. I recommend Spine Alive to anyone I know who is suffering unnecessary pain.”
“I first came to Spine Alive after a car accident with whiplash symptoms. I could no longer play sport and was suffering extreme headaches. After several visits and adjustments I could play touch football again twice a week. I went through two pregnancies with natural deliveries (which I was worried may not be possible with a bulging disc and lower back pain.)
I now visit Spine Alive once a month and this keeps my headaches and low back pain under control. I can keep up with two active sons, a husband, full time work and sport! I recommend giving Spine Alive a try.”
